Rihanna short fringe hairstyles -Hairstyles

Fringe haircuts-hairstyles are the one among the most popular hairstyles that can give you the restrained look. Whether you want to add that high flying look to your eyes or make your smile special you can use the curly fringe hairstyles. Before you decide on the length of your fringe just take into account the shape of your face, as it is the most important deciding factor that can change the way you look. An oval or a heart shaped face can choose shorter fringes for them and the round or square shaped face can look beautiful if added on with the longer fringes which can even be brushed on to one side.

The traditional fringe haircut is that which comes in simply straight length of the fringe which is cut just slightly above the eye. Whereas the modern fringes are the ones which come in many of the different flavors and styles like they can be easily side-swept, or can be given a blunt look, there are some of the full fringes which can even cover the eyes.

Fringe haircut-hairstyle can go with any kind of hair whether they are straight, curly, or wavy they suit your style. You can try on with the new hair hand painting style that can add highlights or dramatic and bold color to you hair giving you the sexier look with the unique focus. If you have beautiful curly or wavy hair you can leave the fringes in the natural curly or wavy state. You can also add the romantic looks to your hair by trimming the curls or the waves of your hair.

Latest Modern Hairstyles

Women know it all. They know how to add a dash of oomph to their hair every other season that follows. The hairstyles keep changing and newer of the styles keep adding up to the list. There are some hairstyles that are mere modifications of the earlier trends while others come out to be totally unique. Here are some of the hairstyles that are in fashion this year.

One of the most fashionable cuts is the jagged layers. The hair ends in this type of a hairstyle are textured and a zigzag parting makes it look even better. Remember to use styling cream and spray to keep the hair intact. You can add a dramatic effect to your hair by going for super straight short hair. This will give a party look as well as look funky. Styling needs to be done with a good hair gel.

If you go for flicks in front of the hair, you can get a hairstyle that is easy to maintain and good to look at. Medium or short length hair will carry the look well. Women with short hair can even go for spiked hair. Not only men can look good in such hairstyles. Women too have joined the bandwagon and are sporting shorter hairstyles with much panache. The criss cross hairstyle is one of the spunky hairstyles for the season. The hair is cut in equal length and layering is done roughly all around. You may sport any of the styles but do not forget to style them properly so that your hair look pretty. If you wish you can add a bit of color too.

Miley Cyrus Has $25,000 Fake Hair

If you want a luscious mane like Miley Cyrus’, be prepared to sell off a kidney, because it’s gonna cost you a goddamn fortune. Or you could always wait until a particularly large wad of seaweed washes up on the shore and get it for free. I doubt anyone would notice the difference. According to the Daily Mail:
The star appears to be gaining a reputation for being just a little high maintenance.
She recently spent an impressive $24,000 on new hair extensions.
Miley is said to have had extensions flown from Italy to New York’s Gemini 14 salon, at which point stylist Kristina Baricelli flew with the extensions to Los Angeles, where they were finally put on.
You could do a lot with twenty-five grand other than gluing it to your head. Like a whole year of college, for example. But I think the Cyruses have made it very clear that they don’t need no edumacation or fancy book-learnin to get ahead in this life. That’s huccome they gots the TV and Twitter.

Ojon Leave-in Glossing Cream

We're big fans of Ojon's natural hair care products, especially their dry shampoo.  Our latest discovery is the Ojon Leave-in Glossing Cream which can be used on damp hair as a styling cream to add shine and control, or on dry hair as a finishing cream to add texture.  We loved the scent (somewhere between nutty and vanilla); the way it control our static and flyaways; and the smoothness and shine on our ends.

You can find Ojon's Glossing Cream at Sephora, Ulta, QVC and www.ojon.com/. $30 for 4.25 oz.

Sun Care for Your Hair

Aveda Sun Care
We're always preaching to you about the importance of slathering on your sunscreen; but we rarely mention your hair.  While your scalp is at risk for the same skin damage as the rest of your body, your hair is different: it can dry out, lose its color, and bleach out.

Aveda stylist, Maria Heille, recommends Aveda's Sun Care line.  Before you spend the day outside, spritz on the Protective Hair Veil for hours of protection against the sun,  use the Hair and Body Cleanser to remove chlorine from the pool or salt from the sea, and try an After-Sun Hair Masque to restore the moisture to your hair after a day in the sun.

Don't forget to pack a hat on your way to the beach too!  It's a full proof way to block the harmful effects of the sun.

Men and Short Hair: What Do They Really Think?

We've always heard that men prefer longer hair.  We've had our hair long for most of our lives, only once or twice cutting it short.  We'd like to think that we're not wearing our hair long just for the men in our lives; but because it flatters us.  Daily Makeover's Sarah Mansour took a closer look and reported back to us.  Read more here.

Donate Your Hair to Help the Gulf Coast

A few of our friends have posted on Facebook lately that you can donate your hair to help soak up the oil from the massive spill in the Gulf Coast. Regular JSG readers know that we are big supporters of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast area, so we investigated to find out if this is more than urban legend. Turns out, it's true!

We asked Sadah Saltzman, Stylist and Makeup Artist at Salon AKS in New York, who verifies,

"Hair naturally absorbs oil, which is why we shampoo our hair. So, hair is a perfect absorbent for petrolatum oil. And, when woven into mats, it  acts like a sponge, picking up access oil."

You don't need to majorly chop your hair, any size clippings will do--even dog hair works! The only restriction is the hair has to be clean so it can soak up the oil. Salon AKS is participating in the donation program.

Read on for more about how to donate your hair to help the Gulf Coast Oil Spill.

New Biolage Hair Care for Multi-Processed Hair

Biolage Delicate Care Conditioner

Biolage's new Delicate Care shampoo and conditioner are its first paraben, sulfate, and silicone free products. They're ideal for multi-processed hair, which is perfect for us, seeing as we color, highlight, and Brazilian blowout our hair and are constantly looking for ways to extend the effects of our costly processes.

The shampoo has the same great smell that reminds us of the salon; and even though it's sulfate-free, you can still work up a great lather. The conditioner has special UV filters which help color fading. It also left our hair as silky as our old favorite Biolage conditioner. Both the shampoo and conditioner have organic and fair trade Acai berry and Argan oil that offer anti-oxidant protection and conditioning.

Visit http://www.matrix.com/ for salon locations.

Loving Beyonce's New Hairstyle

beyonce hairstyles
Contributed by Daily Makeover's Amber Katz

Sultry songstress Beyonce Knowles loves to switch up her hairstyle. This time, she was spotted rocking a messy mane of center-parted voluminous waves. We still see deeper brunette locks peeking out from under a sunburst of lighter highlights gracing the top layers. We wonder how she got those bangs to grow out so perfectly, so quickly. The in-between stage of bangs when hair doesn't know whether to classify itself in the layers or bangs category can drive any even-keeled gal nuts. Perhaps it's the magic of faux-bangs.

What do you think of Beyonce's new hairstyle? Love it or hate it?

My Night With Teddy Charles

teddy charles

So far, I've managed to resist bringing home expensive shampoos from the salon. I do however indulge in the pricier shampoos at the drugstore and had doubts about trying Sunsilk. The newest product
launched by the Sunsilk is co-created with Teddy Charles and inspired by runway styles and salon quality. Teddy Charles, who recently worked on the runway looks for Badgley Mischka and Rag and Bone among others and styles the tresses of celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively, lent his expertise to create the new product line. That's Teddy above. The man is sexy enough he could sell ice to Eskimos!

I was given a special opportunity by Sunsilk to have my hair styled by Teddy and his team. After washing my hair in morning as usual, but this time using Sunsilk, Teddy's team styled it using only a blow drier, round brush and a flat iron, and Sunsilk Hydra TLC Styling Creme. The shampoo left my hair super clean and the cream like thick conditioner made my curly hair manageable. The overall results were amazing and the styling lasted more than 3 days!

Sunsilk products are available at Walmart and Drugstore.com.

Kate Winslet at the Oscars: Get the Look

Kate Winselt 2010 Oscars

Presenter Kate Winslet was beautiful at the Oscars Sunday night.  We love her old Hollywood glam hair styled by Frederic Fekkai's Renato Campora.  Here's how to get the look yourself:

Start by applying Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse mixed with the Fekkai Coiff Perfector Anti-frizz Silkening Creme from roots to ends. He made a side part before he dried the hair. He dried the hair with  Fekkai Large Round Brush and pined it in place as it cooled down. Next, he used a one inch curling iron to create soft loose waves. He finished with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Fekkai products available at fine salons, on-line, and Sephora.

Product Review: No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner

No
I wasn't surprised that the No Frizz shampoo and conditioner worked so well at taming my tresses; but I was surprised with their leave-in conditioner.  Usually, I avoid leave-ins because they weigh my hair down and make my hair dull.  Neither is true of this new Living Proof product.  In fact, on a recent weekend my friend Shelly asked what  I was using on my hair and if I was trying a new deep conditioner.  She went on to say my ends looked perfect.  Needless to say, I didn't expect those comments either.

Living Proof uses their new technology to smooth your hair and the leave-in works extra hard to condition extra dry hair.   You can find the leave-in conditioner at LivingProof.com and Sephora.

Brazilian Blowout vs. Keratin Treatment

Last May, I had a Keratin treatment which smooths out your curls and eliminates frizz by depositing Keratin on your hair. It did work well, though it took hours in the salon, my hair smelled terrible for days (think perm circa 1989) and cost a lot- between $250 and $400. On my recent trip to New York for fashion week, I visited the Salon AKS on Fifth Avenue where Zhen gave me a Brazilian Blowout. Here I am before with Zhen:

Brazilian Blowout

Brazilian blowout before

The Brazilian Blowout is less expensive than the Keratin treatment- starting at $150, takes less time (an hour and a half versus three hours), and doesn't use any formaldehyde or other carcinogenic ingredients. While I couldn't confirm what was in the Keratin treatment (I suspect formaldehyde), the fumes alone were enough to tell me it wasn't good.  The Brazilian Blowout had almost no smell at all and claims to have no carcinogens.  Lastly, I could wash my hair the following day with the Brazilian Blowout where I had to wait three long days with Keratin treatment.

Zhen started by washing my hair and then applying the solution (pictured below).  Then he dried my hair completely and straightened it with a flat iron, which seals in the product.  The next step was another cycle: this time washing, drying and finishing again with the flat iron.

brazilian Blowout

You can see from the picture below (this time with Anne who had her hair blown out at AKS while I was there) that my hair is much smoother and thinner looking.  Rest assured it fluffed up after a couple of washings and is now smooth, shiny and straight.  Results are supposed to last upwards of three months, especially if I use gentle sulfate-free shampoo.

Fall Trend Report: Chunky Highlights

Our friends at Daily Makeover are busy identifying the fall trends. Here Megan McIntyre dishes about chunky, funky highlights:

Turquoise tresses at Cynthia Rowley.

Looks like it's time to break out the Manic Panic. The big beauty trend for hair at Fashion Week was bright, chunky streaks of color that brought to mind punk-inspired street style circa 1996. At the Cynthia Rowley Fall 2010 fashion show, Eva Scrivo for Wella Professionals custom colored hair extensions in shades of emerald, lapis, amethyst, navy and turquoise to replicate the rich jewel tones present in the collection. Each hair extension was completely saturated with professional salon haircolor and then woven into the hair and styled, creating an element of surprise and intrigue when models hit the runway.
Super stylist Ted Gibson for beauty.com went for a version of the trend that was a little easier to DIY at the Vena Cava Fall 2010 fashion show (shown below). He used Streekers to color hair extensions in shades of hot pink, purple and green, then pulled them back into the models' slightly mussed ponytails to give a "downtown, cool feel," to the otherwise equestrian look.

We think this is one trend that just might hit the trifecta of translating in all three worlds: runway, red carpet and real world. This is the second season funky color has been featured at Fashion Week (the girls at the Spring 2010 Proenza Schouler fashion show rocked lovely lilac streaks) and Lady Gaga recently caused a stir at the Grammys with her own spin on the Crayola color trend. Adding a bright streak of color to your coif is an easy way to add a hip edge to your regularly scheduled hairstyle without a huge commitment. Now all you really have to decide is which happy hue you want to adorn your hair with.
